Ready Set Go!

Triathlon - Swim - Bike - Run

Mission Statement

"Our goal is to provide safe, accurate, and free advice on how to get started in the running lifestyle.  We recognize that getting into shape is not a one size fits all approach.  Seasoned Triathletes can always pick up a tip here and there.  For beginners, the best way to find out what is best is to try it all.  We want to be your starting point and reference point.  We want this to be a positive experience for you, and not a Run of Shame."

There are two big questions that you need to ask yourself

1.  Why did I decide to take on an active lifestyle?

2.  Can I keep it up even when times are tough?

The most important aspect of being healthy is consistency.  In order to be consistent you have to train smart, which means using proper technique, nutrition and equipment.  If you wake up and don't feel like running, take the dog for a long walk.  You have to do something in order to get the blood flowing.  How often have you skipped a workout and felt negative all day because of it?  Don't worry you're not alone.  The most important thing is to realize it and fix it.

Proper training technique is key for improvement.  Read up on how to keep your body in line when running and how to stretch.  Nutrition is vital.  You have a one hour window following a workout to optimize recovery.  Equipment is paramount.  If you run with ill-fitting shoes you will develop joint problems.  Go to your local running store and get fitted by a professional.  This site will help you get ready for a 5-10k run and Triathlon.  For more information click on the Triathlon, 5k-10k, Nutrition and Resource tabs at the top of the page.
